Our Heritage

Historic Christianity for the 21st Century

Since the time of Jesus and the Apostles, the Church has expressed its faith through many and varied confessions. Some of these confessions are universally recognized as definitive of orthodox Christian belief. Other, more focused, confessions have been adopted by different groups within Christendom to represent their distinctives. While none of these confessions are authoritative, they do express the historic faith of sober-minded believers.

We are generally aligned with and seek to express the faith set forth in the following historic confessions:

  • The Apostles' Creed (A.D. 150)
  • The Nicene Creed (A.D. 325/381)
  • The Definition of Chalcedon (A.D. 451)
  • The First London Baptist Confession (A.D. 1644/46)
  • The Baptist Confession of Faith (A.D. 1689)
  • The Baptist Faith and Message (A.D. 2000)
